what are you dying for?

i like this song. and i thought these lines were kind of fitting. ish.

14% to 16% at the polls yesterday. of houston's registered voters. that is just depressing. it is even more depressing that it is higher than the turnout last year.

this statistic is made even more depressing by the fact that they voted not only for the mayor (who is still the same, winning with a not entirely surprising 91%), but for nine texas constitutional ammendments.

guess which one passed.

we have now restricted, "defined", marriage as being between a man and a woman.

are people really this stupid? they can't make us take u.s. history and then ignore it themselves. a person's private decisions are just that; their private decisions. this restriction that marriage has to be between a man and a woman is unfair and impunes on the rights of u.s. citizens. i have never really understood why people see it as being so wrong. sure, it is "against religion" for some apparently, but i don't think that is enough to support the condemning of a group of people who are against your views. you can look at slavery and say how the slave owners were bad because they claimed to be christian, how they were hypocrites. how those people had the right to be free. i thought we wanted freedom and acceptance.

guess i was wrong?

to be free
