when all of your tears dry

long day. watched finding neverland tonight, it now ranks among my favorite movies. sat with my dad in his car on the way back from bringing trevor and joey home with the sunroof opened. it reminded me of when he took me to mcdonald's in the middle of the night just to get me frenchfries. i had the chickenpox, and we sat there in a silence that wasn't akward. it was nice. i miss it when it was like that, you know? when you're little, and the biggest loss you've had is maybe losing a stuffed animal. your world includes your street, maybe a school, family and friends. the stuff you see outside of the window isn't real, it doesn't seem to matter. now we realize how big the world is, and sometimes, it feels like i'm lost. alone in a room filled with people.

i miss the times when i could make little worlds with my stuffed animals, my own little neverland. i can't escape there any more.

or i would.

oh you look so beautiful

best day EVAR. in a very long time. much needed.

started by getting up early, which was actually worth it (gasp). beach cleanup was actually pretty fun, the weather was beautiful. katherine was pimpin' with her ghetto music hardware. jenn and i made up an interperative dance to heaven. it was awesome. *is. is awesome.

then julia and i drove up to our farm for the band day at the farm! it was freaking awesome. like i said, the weather was fabulous. and the company was wonderful, i got to hang out with a few people i hadn't really talked to in a while. cory and i had the most wicked game of frizbee ever. then tai joined, and great fun was had. the hay ride was hilarious... rodrigo kept getting hit with trees... hehehe... interesting hay fights.. "IT HURTS ME ON THE INSIDE!!!". then there was julia and i fishing part one, where the fishing pole didn't want to work. part two, there were no fishing poles so we used sticks. there were three sharks, they kept taking my sticks. while walking across one of the fields, julia and i had much fun dancing about and being tornados (no sam, not class one). food was good too. i broke a chair. i was just sitting in it and it collapsed. it was redding's. i think his mom hates me now. there was also amy vs. the kite. hilarium ensued.

overall, today has been a much needed break.

from everything.

down on the corner

this week has been insane. but it is all over now, which is a good thing. i am incredibly glad that this 6-weeks on steriods (= 7 weeks) is finally over. now all i really have to worry about is a) the ap on may third and b) finishing my dog show piece. now that i think about it, neither of them should be particularly awful. i hope.

speaking of art-related things, state VASE was yesterday. i got a perfect score (20/20), so i medaled. which made me really happy. almost everybody from our school (there were seven of us, i think...) medaled, so it was a good day. the workshops were wonderful as well, and i learned a lot. and drew a "swirling vortex of popcorn" as one of the girls sitting at my table described it. but sadly, my popcorn picture won me nothing (it was for a scholarship program thing, that was one of the workshops. we had to select three pieces of popcorn and draw them in a creative way that demonstrated control of the medium. which, in this case, were yellow and white oil pastels). but i think it looked pretty cool. vortexy...

if that isn't a word, it's one now.

out here in the street

lift your head again

so here is my poem... you might not understand it i guess. it doesn't flow as well as it originally did, i had to change some things so it'd be a bit easier to grasp. i was mildly happier with it before, but i seemed to be the only one who understood it. oh, and a note: "poor boys" are poboys (that is what they sound like in louisianian accent). well, here goes..

Poor Boys

Wrinkles flicker on the skin
Veiling the young woman within
Who recalls wavering days, long nights
In the house hidden from roadside’s sight
By trees traced with tresses of Spanish hags
That veil a thousand acres

A thousand acres
A thousand plants
Plants for the nation
On that plantation

A plantation
With lines
With rows
With rhymes
No time

Words unsaid scrawled between lines of corn
Written on the sill of the
Window of her eyes
Watching as they worked the fields
With poor boys in her stomach
Filling the void that her father left

A clatter in front of her
A daughters eyes gaze
At her reflection
In a portal
A daughter of her own

Two worlds collide and life is found
On that fertile middle ground
Daughter neglect finds her daughter’s regret
Of not quite filling that void

So she will fill it
With fried fish, with a second dish
Of poor boys.

and try it

you're not bigger than this, not better

so, for the most part, i have had a wonderful weekend. the wedding was fabulous, more on that later i suppose, i might post some pictures eventually (and with that explanations, hence the more later). today we started driving home at the ripe hour of five in the morning, and i napped until 12, when i went to babysit. then went to work at jamboree for the rest of the afternoon. then a fabulous evening spent with danielle.

of course, i could expect nothing less from an evening with her.

and in other news!

i know the footloose. and the freeze dance. and the jitterbug.

i'm just so cool like that...

*wink*

why can't you learn

how many of you people out there been hurt in some kind of love affair

well, this week has sure been long. and full of ups and downs. mostly downs. but that's all over now. or i should hope. today was fabulous. more on this afternoon later, but i might be getting a new car...

this evening was excellent though. started my solo. recital is on june 4th, for all of you who would like to go. ask me if you want to, i'll tell you details when it gets closer. anyway, after that, i went to sonic (by myself) for some nice quiet time and a grilled cheese. and vanilla dr pepper. those things are good. then i went home and changed, then back to the studio. from there we [my mom, ms janet and i] went to see ms janet's daughter, lindsey, in maximal schnapper, performed by suchu dance.

lindsey is the blondeish one. in the top picture she's covered by a sheety thing, the bottom she is the one all the way on the left.

it's modern, and it was wonderful. lindsey teaches our modern class some of the stuff they did in this show, and really, they looked better doing it than we did. which makes a lot of sense. then we went to a mexican restaurant for some food. i got tres leches. now i'm here. talking about it.

i am glad i am happy again.

and in world news: the pope died. an era is over, i suppose. he did a lot of good things, like trying to unite different religions. it's kind of silly, actually, how some catholics (i can say this, i'm catholic, and this goes for pretty much ever other christian religion as well, but they are not tied to the pope) go about preaching about how their religion is the best etc etc when their pope is going around trying to promote equality and such. just a bit ironic that such "strong believers" would stray so from their leader's teachings.

and how many times do you swear that you'll never love again?
